Nedbank Cup quarters await in-form TS Galaxy

With only one loss in their last 10 games and four consecutive wins, TS Galaxy are in fine form ahead of their Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Chippa United this Sunday, April 14.

A team in some great form, TS Galaxy are unbeaten in their last five games, with four wins on the trot following their triumph over SuperSport United, and are looking ahead to their Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Chippa on Sunday, April 14.

The 1-0 win away to Matsatsantsa on April 6 was only TS Galaxy’s second win away from home in the DStv Premiership this season, and was a welcome change in away form. It also helped them climb from eighth on the log to fifth place, only one point off Sekhukhune United in fourth place, with a game in hand to boot.

It also makes 2023/24 The Rockets’ most successful DStv Premiership season thus far, as they have now reached 10 wins for the season, surpassing their best of nine wins in 2020/21.

It also continued their fine run of form across all competitions, which now includes eight wins, one draw and only one loss in their last 10 matches in the Nedbank Cup and DStv Premiership.

The recent success can largely be attributed to the fact that they have remained steadfast in defence, conceding only two goals in this run of 10 games. This is in stark contrast to the 18 goals that they’ve scored, giving them a positive goal difference of 16 in the last 10 matches.

But in order to progress, The Rockets will need to overcome a determined Chippa United outfit that has won five, drawn two and lost two of their last nine matches. If they do manage to defeat the Chilli Boys, TS Galaxy will progress to the semi-final stage of the Nedbank Cup for the first time since they won the competition in the 2018/19 season.

They will undoubtedly be relying on some very strong form at home at Mbombela Stadium, where they’ve won five consecutive matches and lost only one match all season. The Nedbank Cup quarter-final will kick off on Sunday April 14 at 15:00 and will be broadcast live on SuperSport.
