Golfers laugh their way to Joke success

Golfers flocked to the Kruger National Park in the first week of May, but not solely for the wildlife. Rather to take part in the Joke of the Lowveld Tournament at Skukuza Golf Club.

Skukuza Golf Club once again played host to the Joke of the Lowveld competition, with golfers flocking from around the country to the world’s wildest golf course for a week of golfing fun.

The Joke of the Lowveld Tournament was launched at Skukuza Golf Club for the first time in 1979, as their own version of Mbombela Golf Club’s Jock of the Bushveld tournament.

It’s been an important feature of the golf club’s annual calendar since then, attracting many golfers to the course over the years.

This year’s competition was special in that it marked the first time it would be held since Skukuza Golf Club underwent its major renovations in 2023. It was held over four days, from May 4 and 7, and featured morning and afternoon winners on each day.

The winners for each day were:
• Wednesday May 4

Afternoon: Nardus Visser
• Friday May 6
