It’s time for the fourth Lowvelder Golf Challenge at Mbombela Golf Club

On Wednesday May 15, the Mbombela Golf Club will once again be the venue for the monthly Lowvelder Golf Challenge, organised by the Lowvelder in partnership with Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys.

The fourth of 10 editions of the Lowvelder Golf Challenge is set to take place at the Mbombela Golf Club on Wednesday May 15, once again in partnership with Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys.

The first of the 10 Lowvelder challenges was held in February, and since then three editions have been held so far. Each day has seen a different winner crowned, making for some exciting competition.

The Lowvelder Challenge is being held every month until the final in November and competition days are played in the individual Stableford format. This evens the playing field significantly as players need to rack up points instead of aiming to shoot the lowest score possible.

It also makes things a bit easier for the higher handicap golfers to compete. Each golfer’s five best rounds will be counted to determine the overall winner.

There is no designated tee time on the day, all you have to do is book and play a round of golf at Mbombela Golf Club on the day in order to take part.

The top 10 on the overall leaderboard for the challenge so far, is:
1.
 Stefan de Villiers: 116 points
2. JJ can Rensburg: 107 points
3. Hennie Venter: 97 points
4. Koot Bekker: 83 points
5. Franchoa Giliomee: 74 points
6. Attie van Wyk: 71 points
7. Chalmers Pagiwa: 68 points
8. Cor Viljoen: 67 points
9. Corrie van Niekerk: 62 points
10. Peet Rabie: 60 points.
