Airlink Pumas Golf Day the essence of camaraderie

A full field of golfers ensured that this year's edition of the Airlink Pumas Golf Day was a success, with great golf on show and great weather gracing the Mbombela Golf Club.

The 2024 Airlink Pumas Golf Day was a great success, with a full field of golfers teeing up and taking to the fairways and greens at Mbombela Golf Club on Thursday July 18.

An annual event, the Pumas Golf Day was played in a two-ball alliance scramble-drive format this year. This always lends itself to some rather interesting displays of golf as participants play in teams of two, so one player can ‘grip it and rip it’ while the other might be inclined to deploy the safer, more conservative approach.

As such, a good laugh was never far away throughout the event. It was also a perfect Lowveld winter’s day with clear skies overhead and barely a lick of wind on the course, ensuring that – with the course’s winter conditions – every ball travelled miles.

Coupled with this was a generous number of watering holes scattered around the course, further adding to the gees of the day. Those who ultimately worked their way into a share of the prizes took full advantage of the conditions to make things go their way.

The top three pairings at the end of the day were:
1. V da Silva and F Prinsloo
2. Martin Lombard and Ivan Steyl
3. Chris Naudé and Theo Naidoo.
