Lowveld’s Thriston Lawrence earns top-30 finish at Omega Masters
Lawrence's new ranking of 61st in the world is his highest yet. He teed off in the Amgen Irish Open earlier today, September 12.
Mbombela golfer Thriston Lawrence finished tied 27th at last week’s Omega Masters in Switzerland, but remains in second place in the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings.
He fared well in the opening two rounds, standing on five under heading into the weekend. But he went four over in a tough third round that saw only three of the golfers go under par. This brought him back to one under for the week.
Lawrence carded a one-under round of 69 in the fourth round to finish on two under for the week and earned himself a tied-27th finish. He remains in second in the Race to Dubai rankings and has gone up to 61st in the Official World Golf Rankings, his new highest ranking.
Next up for the Lowveld native is the Amgen Irish Open at the Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland. He teed off at 13:50 in round one today, September 12.
Meanwhile, fellow professional Lowveld golfer Ruan Groenewald will tee it up at the Sunshine Tour’s Bain’s Whisky Ubunye Championship at Silver Lakes Golf and Wildlife Estate in Pretoria this week. He teed off in round one at 07:54 on September 12.
