Next round marks the sixth event of the 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge

Six of the best is what lies in store when the Lowvelder Golf Challenge is held again on August 27.

Wednesday, August 27 will bring up half a dozen for the 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge series as Mbombela Golf Club is set to host the sixth edition for the year.

With Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys on board once again, continuously offering their expertise as sponsors, this year’s series has been a success so far. The first five rounds have seen the lead of the series change hands on a few occasions, helping create some tension atop the leaderboard.

Attie van Wyk was in the lead after the first round, where after Robin Paige won round two. Round three belonged to Mary-Ann Braithwaite and the fourth round win was taken home by Eugene Neumeyer.

Le Roux de Beer carded 43 points in the fifth round – the joint-most for a single round in this year’s Lowvelder Golf Challenge – to take the fifth win of 2025.

After the fifth round it was Rian Joubert who returned to the top of the overall standings for the year so far. His total of 32 points last month was enough to lift him up past Van Wyk and into the lead of the 2025 series. With things tight at the top of the leaderboard, the sixth round is set to be one for the books.

The competition is played in an individual Stableford format, with an additional surprise format to be revealed on the day. To contend for the title, players must compete in at least five out of the nine competition days, as their five best scores will count towards the overall standings after the grand final, which will be hosted on November 20.
