Team Infinita cyclists head for Europe
Cycling South Africa Super Series individual leader, Callum Ormiston of Team Infinita and four of his teammates, are part of a junior squad that will travel to Europe in preparation for the 2017 UCI Road World Championships in Bergen, Norway in September.
Captain of Infinita, Ryan Terry, Esias Joubert, Demarco Pillay and Ruben Helberg are part of the squad of nine riders.
“What makes this team selection so unique, is the fact that five out of the nine riders selected are locals,” said coach and manager of the team, Bosseau Boshoff.
The bulk of the juniors will be based in Belgium and some riders will be based in the Netherlands.
The General Patton in Luxembourg will be one of the UCI Men Junior Nations’ Cup events that the team will participate in, as well as other UCI races where they will compete as a team.

A final squad will be selected to compete in the UCI Road World Championships in Bergen, from the riders who are participating in the European Tour. The number of team riders will be dependent on the nation’s ranking prior to the World Championships.

Due to the lack of funding from the national federation, the riders have to raise their own funds. Infinita will host a golf day at Nelspruit Golf Club on Thursday June 8 to help the riders to raise funds.
