Team Mpumalanga claim bronze at inter-districts

The bowls team of Mpumalanga took bronze at the South African Inter-district Championships B League.

This is a historic achievement, as it is only the second time since Mpumalanga Bowls was established in 2003 that the province achieved a medal at the championships.

It was held at four different venues in and around Johannesburg.

Two teams, which consisted of four women each, represented Mpumalanga; Annette van Rynevelt, Madaleine de Klerk, Dina Kymdell, Christie Cross, Sunette Claassen, Annemarie van der Ham, Patrys Becker and Ellinor Storkey. The gold medal was won by team Johannesburg, with Eastern Province second.

“It is with great pride to announce that we have returned with a medal. A total of 20 districts competed and the competition was fierce. Hopefully next year we will claim the gold medal,” said De Klerk.
