Nell and Beers conquer 3 Towers

Nico Bell and Matthew Beers claimed the overall title after the three-day 3 Towers stage race finished at Mankele over the weekend.

The NAD Pro pair finished in an overall time of 7:24,28.

PYGA Euro Steel’s Matthys Beukes and Philip Buys placed second (7:27,09), with NAD Pro 2’s Wessel Botha and Gawie Combrinck third (7:39,57).

Beukes and Buys took the title last year after neck-and-neck racing with Combrinck and Bell, finishing with less than a minute’s difference between the two teams.

Dormakaba’s Amy McDougall and Samantha Sanders won the women’s race, with Galileo Risk’s Theresa Ralph and Sarah Hill in second and Bush Babes’ Rentia Denissen and Natalie Bergstom third.

Sanders, said she had competed in seven of the 10 events and never won it.

“This was the event’s 10th anniversary, so crossing the line in first was honestly a really rad feeling,” said Sanders.

“We certainly had the victory as a goal but also wanted to just give it our best as always.”
