Erica truly is on top of her game
Uniswim Nelspruit's Erica Sibande (15) claimed several victories at the CANA Zone 3 Swimming Championships which concluded on Saturday in Khartoum, Sudan.
She was named the top swimmer in her age group after scooping seven gold medals.
During the opening two sessions on Wednesday, Erica claimed two gold medals: in the 800m-freestyle in 11:04,99 and the 50m-breaststroke in 44,16.
The following day the local swimmer was once again in top form, bagging three more gold medals, this time in the 100m backstroke in 1:16,28, the 50m backstroke in 35,71 and the 100m freestyle in 1:11,23.
On the last day of the invitation only championships Erica took first spot on the podium in the 200m-freestyle in 2:36,10, the 50m butterfly in 36,09, the 200m breaststroke in 2:49,33, the 50m freestyle in 31,26, the 100m breaststroke in 1:40,92, the 400m freestyle in 5:26,78 and the final three-kilometre open-water race.
The South African swimming team topped the medal table with a total of 78 (39 gold, 23 silver and
16 bronze).
