Katie Prior plays last Ehlanzeni Girls’ Cricket League match after a stellar career
With the impressive list of cricketing honours to her name, Katie bows out.
Katie Prior from Uplands has made her presence felt in cricketing circles and boasts a whole host of achievements in the sport.
The matriculant played her last Ehlanzeni Girls’ Cricket League match last week Wednesday against Hoërskool Bergvlam.
The latter’s girls cricket team has been making waves recently after going undefeated over the past few weeks, but were beaten in the match against Uplands. Prior has captained the South African u/18 indoor girls’ team, the SA Schools girls’ B team, the Mpumalanga girls’ u/19 team and the Uplands girls’ first team.

To add to this string of roles, she is also the vice-captain of the Mpumalanga women’s team. In December this year, she will make a final appearance for Mpumalanga Schools at the South Africa national girls’ u/19 week.

Her coach, Karen van Wyk, lauded Prior’s achievements and said, “Since my involvement in girls’ cricket at Uplands, I have admired Katie’s dedication to the sport.

“She has grown into a phenomenal young lady who captains the side with confidence and fairness. She is always willing to help coach the younger girls and inspires them to strive for greatness. Under her leadership, I have seen the girls develop into exceptional young cricketers.
“Her achievements are a testament to her talent, dedication and mental strength. She works incredibly hard at improving her game all the time and simply really enjoys her time out on the field. We wish her all the best for her future.”
