Hole-in-one at charity golf league

The next Gophers Charity Golf game will take place at the Lydenburg Golf Club on Sunday June 5.

The Gophers Charity Golfers held their monthly game at Akabeko Golf Course.
A better ball format with a scrambled drive competition was played.

The winning team were Alwyn and Susan Loots (50 points), Johan and Chris Holscher (45 points) and Jacques and Dave van der Kolff (42 points). Alwyn won R1 000, sponsored by Nomakanjani Fire Equipment Services, for securing a hole-in-one.

“The management at Highlands Gate has reduced Gopher’s green fees as a contribution towards the fund. Thank you to the management and the golf clubs for always hosting us. With the help of the fund, we were able to donate a special wheelchair and elbow rollator to Ilana Thomas (12). We feel fortunate to be able to help the family. Ilana needs assistance with her mobility after a brain operation earlier this year. The Gophers work towards helping people in need throughout the year,” said Bruce James, the chairperson.
