Ruan van Blerk of White River Country Club shot a superb 69 in his second round to win the Mbombela Golf Club Open on Sunday. The tournament was played over 36 holes.

Malelane Golf Club’s Janneman Combrink held the lead after the first round, carding 69.

His clubmate, Eddie Wilken, was second, shooting a round of 70. Van Blerk found himself in third place, four shots off the pace.

But the the White River golfer was steady as a Springbok scrum in the second round and shot a 69 to finish on 142 par and win the tournament.
Van Blerk birdied the second, 11th, 12th and 14th holes in his second round.

Wilken finished on 143 (+1) and Combrink battled in his second round, which included seven bogies, with a 76, and carded a tournament total of 145 (+3).
