Youth Day celebrated in Steelpoort with soccer and netball
Neighbouring towns’ schools compete in sports tournament.
Youth Day was met with excitement by the netball and soccer players from Lydenburg and Steelpoort.
Eight teams convened at the Ga-Malekane Gobetse sports grounds for a tournament.
The schools that competed were Gobetse, Mashego, Skhila, Makgwale, Nkotwane, Shorwane and Ngwanagwato secondary schools, and Mashishing High School.
The Gobetse Secondary School soccer team won first place overall.
Skhila Secondary School’s netball team walked away with the trophy for the best netball team of the day. Mashishing High School’s first soccer and netball teams came second in the tournament.
The day was organised by the amalgamated forums of Mashishing/Lydenburg and Steelpoort. The organisers expressed their gratitude to the sponsors who made the day possible.
