LVCC stroll to victory in T20 final at Penryn in Mbombela

LVCC defeated Secunda Cricket Club in the final.

The LVCC Cricket Club topped the local Premier Club T20 league and went on to beat Valencia CC in the final last month.

LVCC Cricket then took on the Highveld winners, Secunda, on Sunday December 3 for the Mpumalanga Club Champion title.

The Lowveld team won the toss and chose to bat first.

Josh Greeff and Jandru du Plooy got off to a flying start and put on a 70 run opening partnership in just seven overs.

Greeff was dismissed for 28 (22 deliveries), but this did not halt the charge as Du Plooy was joined at the wicket by Bernard Voster who also took on the bowling.

Du Plooy was eventually dismissed for 54 (33 deliveries) and the rest of the LVCC side batted around Voster who finished the innings off with five consecutive sixes and ended unbeaten on 79 (39 deliveries). LVCC had set a formidable target of 210.

Secunda were put under extreme pressure by Jon Hinrichsen with three for 17, and Greeff who took one for 28. They reduced Secunda to 31 for four after five overs.

Superb fielding resulted in two run outs and Secunda was never able to get back in the game.

The tail was quickly wrapped up by Yassar Cook (2/11) and Sean Bellis (2/1), and Secunda was all out for a mere 92 runs.
LVCC won by 117 runs.
