Lowveld tennis players selected for SA schools’ teams

The two Hoërskool Nelspruit pupils will attend Wimbledon.

Chané Steyn and Simoné Swart were recently selected for their respective age group Tennis South Africa (TSA) schools’ teams.

The two Hoërskool Nelspruit pupils played in the TSA High Schools’ Interprovincial Tournament in Tshwane from December 9 to 12.

Fifteen provincial teams competed.

The number-one and -two ranked players from each province had to compete for the places in the SA schools’ teams.

Chané qualified for the U19 team and Simoné for the U15 team.

Chané won four and lost two of her matches, while Simoné was only defeated once in her seven matches.

They will be travelling to England in July to compete in tournaments and also have the privilege of watching matches at The Championships at Wimbledon.

Chané is coached at All4tennis by Schalk Schutte. Simoné is coached by Susan Linden.
