Abednico Mashaba ran to a convincing victory in the Mataffin Home Run 10km which started and finished at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday November 16.

The 10km race and 4.9km fun run were hosted by Ngodwana Marathon Club.
The Uniwisp athlete finished in 00:32:01, with Volksrust Marathon Club’s Musawenkosi Buthelezi second in 00:32:26. Sifiso Ngcobo of City of Mbombela Marathon Club claimed third place in 00:33:43.

Nomvula Sithole of LowMed led from early in the 10km race to take first place the women’s category in 00:41:09. Sithole did not hold back during the race and only 10 men finished in front of her.

The second female over the finish line was the junior athlete from Legogote Villagers, Janke Steenkamp, who clocked 00:47:41. Simoné Odendaal, in the colours of MPU Running Club Nedbank, was third overall and the second senior woman in 00:47:49.
