Nelspruit Rugby Club honours 2024 achievers

The club’s second team won the double - the Ehlanzeni and Mpumalanga titles.

Nelspruit Rugby Club concluded a successful season with their annual awards function on the night of November 30.

The Nelspruit second team showed guts and determination in 2024. They won the Ehlanzeni Premier League second teams’ final against White River 2, and the Mpumalanga final against Witbank.

The first team also qualified for both the Ehlanzeni and Mpumalanga finals.

They topped the log after the round-robin stage of the Ehlanzeni League, but lost the final at home to White River. In the Mpumalanga final, Witbank were just too good for the Nelspruiters on the day and won the match.

The rugby man of the year award went to Sam Govere, while the player of the year trophy was awarded to Piet Stapelberg.

• Practice participation: Piet Stapelberg
• Most tries: Ryno le Grange
• Most points: Ryno le Grange; Johan Aspeling.
