IN PHOTOS: Ngobese and Isaiah power to victory in Halls Half Marathon

Over 600 athletes took on the 21.1km and 10km races, and a 4.9km fun run.

Some 617 runners and walkers taking part in the 4.9km fun run, 10km race and 21.1km half-marathon enjoyed the beautiful grounds and orchards of Halls, at Mataffin, on Saturday, August 16.

Samkelo Ngobese of Bella’s Athletics Club was untouchable in the 21.1km event and claimed gold in 01:10:32. Sifiso Ngcobo, a private entrant, finished second in 01:12:24, and Nedbank LVCC’s Ntuthuko Maseko
was third in 01:17:09.

The women’s half-marathon winner was Rosaline Isaiah who clocked 01:32:35. It was the second consecutive year that she was the race winner. She was followed by Leani Bester in 01:48:53, and Lara de Villiers in 01:50:50. The top three women were all private entrees.

Abednico Mashaba of Uniwisp took the gold medal in the men’s 10km race in 00:32:23. Samuel Mathabatha of Bella’s was second in 00:32:37, and his teammate Sibonginkosi Maseko third in 00:33:01.

Uniwisp’s Nomvula Sithole crossed the finish line first in the women’s 10km event. Her time was 00:39:27.
Jana Calmeyer of Ubora Athletics Club was second in 00:44:00, and Jodean Esselen of Onderberg Marathon Club third in 00:45:00.
