We Care 4 Nelspruit will utilise the funds to continue its work.

The Mother Trucker Golf Day, held at Mbombela Golf Club on Thursday, September 18, was a massive success. There was amazing gees on the course from early in the morning.

A total of 168 good – and some not so good – golfers teed off in a shotgun start.

The 18 holes were a hive of festivity and camaraderie, with innovative tee sponsors attending to the players.

Only a few players mastered the Happy Gilmore-style shot challenge.

“We had 25 sponsors, and 35 prizes were awarded after the day’s play. A cheque of R100 000 was handed over to TJ Maré of We Care 4 Nelspruit at the prize-giving,” said Juan Schmidt, the event organiser.

Former multiple-division world boxing champion Brian Mitchell was the MC and an auction was held to raise additional funds.

“It was an amazing occasion – the biggest golf day I have ever seen. It was so well organised and executed,” said Maré.

“Without donations, We Care 4 Nelspruit cannot operate. It means so much to us that community members and businesses supported the Mother Trucker, and through this, our causes are supported. The R100 000 is much needed. Thank you to all who made this possible.”
