Penryn rugby and netball netball face promising season
All rugby enthusiasts, make sure not to miss out on this.
A first of its kind, a White River and Mbombela derby will take place at Mbombela Stadium this Wednesday.
Penryn 1st XV, who came out tops in the Medium Schools league in 2015, will be up against Hoërskool Bergvlam for the Lowveld derby and Hoërskool Rob Ferreira will take on Uplands College.
This forms part of the teams’ preparations for the upcoming Mpumalanga leagues, as well as to increase school interest in the local professional team, the Steval Pumas.
Both Penryn and Uplands will be competing in the medium schools league while Robbies and Vlammies will be competing in the large schools league.
The first match, Uplands College and Rob Ferreira will start at 17:40 with the second game kicking-off at 19:05.
Tickets will be available at the stadium at R10 per person.
Action Netball
The Nelspruit Action Netball league started August 19 and it is the first time that a Penryn College team participated in the fun-filled, action-packed sport.
Although the team began the tournament as the underdogs, they rose to the occasion and managed to pull out all the stops. After six months and 35 games played, Penryn is proud to be first in the C-league and third in the B-league.
Although gruelling at times, the Penryn girls maintained their positive attitude throughout and this mind-set lead to their victories.
This experience proved to be invaluable, uniting the team and sharpening their netball skills and this bodes well for the upcoming netball season.
