Skaters push it to the limit in Car Park League

The skaters now know that every second weekend of the month a skate day is held at Makro.

Around 30 skaters made their way to Makro Nelspruit’s parking lot to battle it out on their boards. Organiser Gareth Green says even though the day went very well, the weather could definitely have been better.

Numerous former Mbombela skaters paid a visit all the way from Cape Town and Johannesburg to take part in the competition. “It’s cool to see some of the old boys on their planks,” says Green. He adds that the vibe is always cool and pumped up with excitement. The Car Park League – as it was dubbed – is a monthly event where Gsk8t partners with Makro which allows them to make use of the parking area. The skaters now know that every second weekend of the month a skate day is held at Makro. This helps them with consistency on the skating scene and helps them get their name out there.

“We create a safe environment for the beginner right up to the advanced skater where parents can leave their child and be at peace about it,” says Green. “The guys are always looking for spots to skate on the streets. We want to keep them away from getting into trouble for skating at these spots.”
