Nkandla ‘prophet’ accused of rape
A self-proclaimed prophet finds himself at the centre of a rape investigation.

The Lydenburg SAPS confirmed they are investigating a rape case made by two sisters. They arrested Soul Komane (33) on Monday April 19 at his house in the Nkandla informal settlement.
According to police, both sisters, aged (30) and (36) of Leboweng in Limpopo, visited the prophet for spiritual guidance.
During the on January 8, the prophet allegedly told one of the sisters to pleasure herself during the cleansing ceremony. While she was in the act he allegedly forced her to have sex with him. Afterwards, she asked Komane if he always treated his patients with those methods, and he confirmed that he did.
On Sunday April 11 the woman’s sister and her boyfriend also visited Komane.

He allegedly told her to pleasure herself during the cleansing ceremony, too. She saw, however, that Komane’s trousers were allegedly around his knees, pushed him away from her and left the room. The prophet supposedly told her boyfriend to wait in another area while he was busy with the cleansing ceremony.
After this incident, they informed their mother and the family opened a case at the Leboweng Police Station on Friday April 16. The case was transferred to Lydenburg SAPS and Komane appeared in the Lydenburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday April 20. “The police are encouraging women who may have gone through a similar ordeal to come forward,” said Capt Kaizer Moela, spokesperson for the Lydenburg SAPS.
