JANE FURSE – An emotional Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) mayor, Minah Bahula, handed a
house to the Mmokela family on Heritage Day.
This family of Ga-Moloi’s Maraganeng Section were excited to be handed a fiveroomed, fully furnished house.
The Mmokela family’s dilapidated structure made the rounds on social media a few months ago. It was damaged and had cracked walls.

A Good Samaritan and a local entrepreneur, Judy Mphelane, responded in her capacity as a businesswoman and alerted other local businesses and the MLM of the dire plight of the family.

“Because I know where I come from, I know the pain of being subjected to subhuman living conditions for a long time.
“Today being Heritage Day, we celebrate with the Mmokela family this beautiful structure. Your socio-economic status has been improved for the better. I would like to appreciate the work done by all those who
have contributed.
“It is encouraging when we make a call as government and see businesses responding and offering a helping hand. This is to ensure the restoration and transformation of the lives of our people and impact change.”
