Ruling party wins convincingly in the FTLM

The Socialist Agenda for the Dispossessed Africans a new political party that was formed in 2013, is the third biggest party in Fetakgomo Tubatse. The party founded by former Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) member Aubrey Ngwatle has gained an extra seat after accumulating one seat in the 2016 elections. The party received 2.28% of the votes.

BURGERSFORT – The ANC has once again convincingly won the November 1 elections in Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM). The ruling party accumulated 68.18% of the votes, this will see the party having 54 seats in the FTLM council.

The EFF retains its position as the opposition in the FTLM, it has garnered 17.8% and this will accumulate in the Red Berets having 14 seats in the council.

The DA will also have two representatives in the FTLM council, the party received 2.04% of the votes. Azapo, Power of Africans Unity, FF Plus, Bolsheviks Party of South Africa and PAC will have have sole representatives in the FTLM council.

On Tuesday, the date of the FTLM’s first council to elect the mayor was not yet confirmed. The FTLM is an amalgamation of the former Fetakgomo and Tubatse municipalities. It was formed in 2016 and is divided into 39 municipal wards. Its head offices are in Burgersfort and Ga Nkwana. The FTLM’s first mayor was Johannes Phokane.
