Her mother inspired teen to write a novel
A 17-year-old writer from Steelpoort is seeking financial support to enable her to publish her first novel.
Thakgalelo Mercedes Malatji has her manuscript ready and is awaiting assistance. The determined girl has saved funds, but they are not enough to have her desired book published. “I contacted Baropodi Publishers from Alverton, and now I need an extra R3 000 to achieve my dream of having my first novel published,” said the Grade 12 pupil of Leolo Technical High School.
Thakgalelo told Steelburger/Lydenburg News that her novel titled, Every Mother is a Queen, is a good read. “I have decided to write this book because I’ve learned that a mother goes through a lot trying to raise her kids. It’s time to appreciate and give the crown to mothers like queens. The book is about a queen who raised and loved her child through good and bad times. “While I look for funds to pursue the production and circulation of my first publication, I am also juggling my matric classes, said Thakgalelo.”

According to her, the vision to write the book is also to contribute to the educational development of the younger people in society.
“As a pupil, I have seen that it is important to educate and inform the younger ones so that their future will be brighter and better. That was why, when the vision to write books came, I didn’t hesitate to grab it. And I am very happy that I did. “I also need the support of philanthropic individuals and corporate bodies to achieve my desire of contributing to the educational development of the younger generation.”
Thakgalelo said that seeing her publications in the market would be one of the best things that will happen to her. She can be contacted at 081 210 3507.
