John Ross Tapson retained the number one spot on the log after the seventh round of the 2026 Lowvelder Golf Challenge. His 33 points in the most recent edition on August 19 took him to a total of 183.

One hundred and twenty golfers took part in the seventh 2026 instalment of the Lowvelder Golf Challenge.

The winner of the seventh round was Reyno Kruger on 43 Stableford points.

Players climb standings in round 7

JJ van Rensburg made a move up from third to second on the log with his 38 points, bringing his total to 177.

A big mover after round seven was Christo Smith, who finished runner-up on the day. He moved six places to third with a total of 177 points.

But the biggest mover was third-placed Paul Greyvenstein. His 39 points gained him 16 places up to fourth with 177 log points.

Danie Bezuidenhout, who held the lead until June, moved from second to fifth after scoring 27 on Wednesday, for a total of 175.

Round 8 set for September 16

The eighth round of the 2026 Lowvelder Golf Challenge will take place on September 16.

Each player’s five best rounds will count towards the final standings come the 10th and final round on November 25.

Sponsors Octopi Smart Solutions, Du Toit-Smuts and Partners Attorneys and Castle Lager Double Malt have made the 2026 tournament possible.

Players must book their own rounds and carts via the club on 013 744 0952. Prize eligibility requires attendance at the prize-giving ceremony, and all participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap.
