CBD revamp underway

Over the past three years, the Middelburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has adopted and initiated a project to revamp the Middelburg CBD.

A CBD improvement strategy commissioned by the Nkangala District was adopted in 2015 by the executive committee of MCCI and called for community input and participation.

One of the key stakeholders identified by public participation in the improvement of the CBD is the property owners.

The chamber established a partnership with property owners to start implementing a CBD Programme in the short term.

“I am excited on the project. This year we will work on uplifting and modernizing the existing buildings in the CBD, ” said Mr Tobias van Loggerenberg, a property owner and architect.

“We believe in the town and it’s future, this town have business potential. We want the CBD to be re-positioned as the main business attraction in the town and ultimatly in the Nkangala district,” said Adv Mtho Xulu, MCCI President.
