Man nabbed and drugs, firearm seized

A man was arrested after police received information about someone allegedly distributing drugs in Nebo and Jane Furse.

Police in Nebo arrested a 36-year-old man for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, as well as drugs, yesterday (Wednesday).

The police, together with members of the Jane Furse Tracking units, traced and stopped a vehicle in which the suspect was driving along the R579 near Brooklyn Village during an intelligence-driven operation.

Information was received about the vehicle in the Nebo and Jane Furse areas.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said further investigation led the team to the suspect’s residence in Mochadi Village, where a pistol with a serial number filed off, loaded with live rounds of ammunition, was recovered.

Ledwaba stated that a substantial quantity of suspected nyaope, estimated at a street value of R26 200, was also seized.

Hundreds of twisted nyaope packets are spread evenly across a tiled floor inside a room with light coming through sheer curtains, creating a rustic feel.
