Mathunyane’s matter in court for bail

A security company director arrested for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition will appear in the Moutse Magistrate Court for a bail hearing.

Makopole Jones Mathunyane (49), a security company director arrested for the unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition at Moutsia Mall, Dennilton, is expected to reappear in the Moutse Magistrate’s Court for a formal bail hearing.

Mathunyane made his first appearance at the court on December 3, following his arrest on December 2.

His most recent court appearance was on December 8. He was nabbed by the Polokwane-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Unit, assisted by the Private Security Industrial Regulatory Authority and the SAPS Limpopo Provincial Flash team.

Hawks Limpopo spokesperson Warrant Officer Lethunya Mmuroa said Mathunyane was arrested following a tip-off about a security company allegedly operating with unlicensed firearms in Dennilton.

Mmuroa revealed that two rifles, a shotgun and ammunition were seized during Mathunayne’s arrest.
