Firearms seized, suspected hoodlum nabbed

A man believed to be a member of a gang behind a series of serious and violent crimes in the Nebo policing area has been arrested.

Members of the Provincial Tracking Team and the Provincial Investigations Unit nabbed the 34-year-old suspect in Phokoane Village on Tuesday.

Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba revealed that two firearms, an AK-47 rifle with an empty magazine, and a 9mm pistol, also with an empty magazine, were recovered at the suspect’s home.

He appeared in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, facing a charge of possession of prohibited firearms.

His case was postponed to December 18 for a formal bail application.
