Mayor welcomes Christmas bundles of joy

The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality visited special Christmas Day babies.

The Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula, accompanied by Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor Merah Mahlase, visited the Jane Furse Hospital to welcome five babies born on Christmas Day and provide support to their mothers.

The visit formed part of the district municipality’s ongoing programme to support community care.

The first baby, a boy, was born at 00:06, a baby girl was delivered at 00:25, a little boy was born at 05:00, and a girl was born at 10:00.

In addition to these arrivals, another baby was still being processed between 09:00 and 11:00.

Bahula thanked the staff at the hospital for their dedication to providing quality primary healthcare.

She further congratulated the mothers and called for proper care for the babies.

Limpopo Department of Health MEC Dieketseng Mashego announced the delivery of 38 babies between midnight and 06:00 on Christmas morning during an interview on SABC radio.

Bahula’s visit was extended to St Rita’s Hospital in Glen Cowie Village, where she welcomed four girls and two boys.
