Intelligence-led operations yield positive results

Two suspects arrested for possession of crystal meth and dagga during intelligence-led operations in the Sekhukhune District.

A 58-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were arrested in separate incidents for the possession of drugs yesterday (January 7) in Sekhukhune District.

According to Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the woman was nabbed in Machanganeni Village within the Apel policing area after officers found 90 sachets of crystal meth with an estimated street value of R9 000 following a search of her premises.

He indicated that the arrests were made during separate intelligence-driven operations targeting drug-related activities in Sekhukhune.

“Both arrests form part of ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at combating drug-related crimes and dismantling drug distribution networks across the province,” Mashaba said.

The woman is expected to appear before the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court today, facing charges of possession and drug dealing. The man is also expected to appear today in the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court, facing charges of possession and dealing dagga.
