Fatal stabbing under investigation

Police said the arrest followed a fatal stabbing involving a 40-year-old relative in Jerusalem Village.

William Amogelang Mahlangu (22), facing charges of murder and the possession of a dangerous weapon, was remanded in custody until February 5 for a formal bail application when he appeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Tuesday).

According to Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Mahlangu was arrested following the stabbing involving a 40-year-old relative on Monday in Jerusalem Village in the Hlogotlou policing area.

Ledwaba stated that Mahlangu was nabbed shortly after the incident, and the police recovered and confiscated the sharp instrument, which was allegedly used during the crime.

Emergency Medical Services personnel certified the victim dead at the scene. The identity of the man is withheld pending further investigations.

The accused was remanded in custody until February 5 for a formal bail application when he appeared before the court on Tuesday.
