EFF to demonstrate in Phokoane

The marchers will also seek clarity on the handling of funds at the school and the processes followed to elect the SGB.

The EFF in Makhuduthamaga Sub-region is expected to embark on a march to Leduma Primary School in Phokoane Village tomorrow (February 19).

According to the EFF, the march will highlight the challenges faced by local learners as a result of the occupation of classrooms at the school by Phokoane education circuit members.

EFF Makhuduthamaga Sub-region Secretary Emma Mokwana said the march will commence at the Ga-Masesi T-junction and proceed along the R579 to the school.

The party indicated that the members of the four local education circuits operate from two classrooms, resulting in learners not being able to be admitted due to space issues.

The EFF demands that the members of the education circuits vacate the school’s premises to give learners an education.

The party said it will also address allegations of misuse of funds at the school and the school governing body (SGB) members’ election, which it asserts was not handled in accordance with the South African Schools Act.

EFF and community members will gather at Ga-Masesi T-junction at 09:00, and the march will end at 14:00.

Mokwana confirmed that permission for the march has been granted following an application with relevant authorities.
