Audit success earns SDA recognition

The Sekhukhune Development Agency’s unqualified audit opinion for 2024/2025 has earned provincial recognition, with leadership now aiming to achieve a clean audit in the next financial year.

The Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA) has been recognised for achieving an unqualified audit opinion for the 2024/2025 financial year during the SALGA Mosses ‘Big Moss’ Maluleke Municipal Awards.

The awards ceremony took place at the Ranch Resort in Polokwane on February 26, where municipalities and municipal entities were acknowledged for excellence in governance and financial management.

SDA finance manager Senzile Maseko said the agency remains committed to maintaining high standards of financial accountability and transparency.

“A clean audit is the best possible outcome for an audit, where financial statements are free from material misstatements, and there are no significant findings regarding performance or compliance with regulations. It indicates that an organisation’s financial records are credible, transparent, and legally compliant,” said Maseko.

Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor Minah Bahula commended the agency for maintaining sound governance and financial discipline.

She described the achievement as a reflection of capable leadership and institutional maturity within the agency.

However, Bahula noted that the recognition also brings greater expectations.

She called on the agency to improve its performance in the upcoming financial year by fully transitioning to the in-house preparation and review of its annual financial statements.

The mayor further urged the agency to aim for a clean audit outcome and eliminate any risk of unauthorised expenditure.

She encouraged the SDA team to continue striving for excellence so that future celebrations would mark the achievement of a historic clean audit for the district’s economic development arm.

SDA acting CEO Dr Rosa Mdluli expressed appreciation for the continued support and encouragement from the executive mayor.

Mdluli said the recognition strengthens the agency’s commitment to building a resilient and self-sufficient institution capable of delivering services with excellence.

She indicated that the recognition serves as motivation for the agency to strengthen its systems and governance, with the ultimate goal of achieving a clean audit in the coming financial year.
