No arrests after armed robbery

Suspects abandoned their getaway vehicle and fled on foot following a shootout with police officers.

Police are continuing their search for suspects linked to a business robbery at Leeuwfontein Crossing earlier this month.

According to Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the robbery occurred at a retail store on May 4 at approximately 09:50.

A group of unidentified armed men allegedly entered the store, forced employees into an office, and demanded access to the safe. The suspects reportedly stole an undisclosed amount of cash and several cellphones before fleeing the scene.

Police pursued the suspects along the Leeuwfontein road, leading to a car chase and an exchange of gunfire.

The suspects later abandoned their white Toyota Corolla getaway vehicle and fled on foot.

“Several cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash were recovered at the scene,” he said.

Police investigations are ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information that could assist the police is urged to contact investigating officer Sergeant Joel Malefo on 082 303 9929, Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or report the matter to their nearest police station. Information can also be shared anonymously through the My SAPS App.
