BMW M4 Coupe is the cool car

I am happy to report we have just added a BMW M4 to our long-term garage for 2015 and look forward to bringing you monthly updates on this exciting coupe.

And this is not going to be your normal update stuff either. We are going to delve into BMW’s official Performance Parts bin and showcase just how much cooler you can make your M car – or any BMW for that matter.

Right now the M4 is finished in Silverstone Metallic and full Merino black leather in standard trim with the addition of a few extras such as the 19-inch wheels – but just to make sure the car will also be fitted with a BMW Performance exhaust and Driver’s Package to not only add some bark but also see the speed limiter move to 280km/h for top speed events.

The M4 will then head off to our high performance road test facility, Gerotek, and all the data will be crunched to bring you the real deal in a comprehensive road test feature.

And talking of events, one of the most logical and safe places to use a high performance BMW such as this is at any events the BMW Car Club of Gauteng hosts. Since I am a long-standing member of the club I plan to take full advantage of their well-run days to enjoy the M4 to the max.

What is the new BMW M4 all about? Friedrich Nitschke, president of BMW M GmbH, explains: “Four generations of the BMW M3 have blended motor sport genes and uncompromised everyday usability within an emotionally rich overall concept.”

“The BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M4 Coupe represent an ongoing commitment to this philosophy. The engine is the heart of every M model, and the new turbocharged six-cylinder unit combines the virtues of a high-revving naturally aspirated unit with the strengths of turbocharger technology.

“The BMW M3 and BMW M4 take motor sport technology from the track to the road and thousands of laps of the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife – the world’s most exacting race track – have readied the new models for that transition. Meticulous and passion-fuelled development work has underpinned the creation of two high-performance sports cars that set new standards in terms of overall concept, precision and agility.”
