Ford to display expanded range at NAMPO

The 2014 Grain SA NAMPO Harvest Day Show will take place at NAMPO Park in the Free State from today until Friday.

This agricultural show is the largest in the southern hemisphere, with 70 000 visitors each year.

The event is a big one for Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa which will again showcase its products and be on hand to interact with the public.

“The farming community is important to Ford, and it’s important for us to engage with them,” says Ford marketing manager Gavin Golightly.

“This year Ford will showcase its passenger and commercial vehicles, and NAMPO 2014 will also mark the unveiling of the Ford Transit panel van and chassis cab.”

The Transit is a new addition to the Ford fleet, complementing the existing Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom.

The Transit will be available in three versions: bus, panel van and chassis cab, all of which will make use of the 2.2-litre Duratorq engine, seen in the Custom.

With a 13 790 litres capacity and 207cm high load area the Transit van can be the perfect transport partner, for either goods or people.

In chassis cab trim the vehicle can also be customised to fit a number of roles.

“The new Transit is an exciting vehicle for us,” says Gavin Golightly. “It marks an expansion of the Transit line-up in South Africa, and highlights Ford’s continued dedication to bringing commercial vehicles to South Africa.”

Another highlight for attendees will be the Ford Racing Dakar Ranger, as driven by Chris Visser in the 2014 Dakar in South America.

This V8-powered Ranger will be on show the whole week, and Visser will also be on hand to talk about the vehicle and the race. Ranger will also feature in practical demonstrations on the 4×4 track, where Ford’s team of off-road instructors will be putting Odyssey Rangers through their paces.

Other Ford products at the show will include the EcoSport and Fiesta, both boasting the award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine.

The Ford Focus, Figo, and Kuga will also be there, as well as the Transit Custom Sport Van and a full complement of locally-built Rangers.

Be sure to get down to the NAMPO Show Grounds and visit the Ford stand to get a closer look at all the latest Ford models.
