Koenigsegg sweetens Jesko with mouth-watering Red Cherry Edition 10
Unveiled earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show as a tribute to his father in that it bears his name, Koenigsegg founder, Christian von Koenigsegg, has revealed a special edition version of Jesko, the Cherry Red Edition 10.
The first model to be sold via the Swedish automaker’s LuxuryandExpensive network, the Red Cherry 10 retains the standard Jesko’s aerodynamic pack that is claimed to produce 1 000 kg of downforce at 275 km/h, albeit now finished in a dark red hue offset by carbon fibre elements.
Like the standard Jesko, the Red Cherry rides on an in-house developed platform and not only comes with Koenigsegg’s signature dihedral synchro-helix doors and carbon fibre monocoque chassis, but also the Triplex dampers, adaptive active rear steering and, as standard, lightweight 20-inch alloy or carbon fibre wheels weighing 6.7 kg at the front and 8.4 kg at the rear. Weighing 1 320 kg, the Red Cherry’s interior is similar to that of its sibling, although buyers have the option of leather or Alcantara upholstery.
Residing at the rear, the Red Cherry is kept as is with the 5.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 again producing 955kW/1 500Nm, or up to 1 193 kW when running on E85. Mated to a Koenigsegg bespoke nine-speed dual-clutch gearbox dubbed Light Speed Transmission (LST) that weighs 90 kg, the Jesko Red Cherry will reach a claimed top speed of 480 km/h, with its full 1 500 Nm being available from as low as 5 100 rpm.
Accordingly, Koenigsegg also claims that the Red Cherry has the ability to produce 1 400 kg of downforce at 480 km/h, in spite of not revealing its acceleration figures.
With the aim of producing 125 Jeskos by 2020, the Red Cherry Edition 10 will go on sale in Europe sporting a price tag of €2 350 000 (R39 355 844).
