Kyalami opens its gates
The Kyalami circuit will tomorrow open its gates to the public for the first time since being sold to Porsche earlier this year.

The occasion will be a club day, with all of Gauteng’s car and motorcycle clubs invited to display their vehicles, regalia and branding in 40 allocated pits, as well as out on the circuit.
Admission for both the clubs and the public will be free of charge. By yesterday afternoon 32 clubs had accepted the invitation.
They range from Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Ducati, Mini, Volvo and Sunbeam to Triumph, MV Agusta, Honda, Ford, Chevrolet and BMW.
The circuit gates will be open from 6am, with exhibitors getting until 9am to set up their pits.

There will be open track sessions, with cars taking to the circuit in designated speed groups until 10h25.
From 10.30am the club cars will go around the circuit in groups, with everybody parking in the pit straight for a meet-and-greet session and the taking of group photographs.
The organisers will also use this time to judge the cars. From 2.30pm the circuit will be open again, with three different speed groups getting time to lap at their own pace.
The track will close at 4pm and the circuit gates at 5pm. “The event will herald a new era for the home of motoring in South Africa,” said Kyalami press officer Denis Klopper.
“This year will see much happening at Kyalami, up to and including a full track resurfacing, as well as the addition of a track extension – which will give the venue a new main straight,” he added.
