Maserati dreams on

Maserati has officially entered its 100th year – and does so in a period of unprecedented health and unparalleled growth. More than 23 000 worldwide orders to date are propelling the brand into a new dimension.

Today, Maserati is among the fastest growing brands in the United States and has a presence in 70 markets throughout the world – with China being the second largest market. The company showcased its new look and marketing campaign at the Los Angeles Auto Show a few weeks ago.

“The Opposite of Ordinary” concept is testament to the company’s first 100 years and a guideline for the next 100 – and it is with great pride that Maserati introduces its Centennial logo.

Maserati’s famous Trident was inspired by the sculptures of Italy so it seemed fitting to sculpt a new image that is representative of 100 years of passion in car-making. The logo is a symbol of its racing heritage. But more importantly, it resembles nothing found among other luxury brands and will serve as a constant reminder of the company’s core belief: that everything it builds in the next 100 years will be The Absolute Opposite of Ordinary.

Maserati was founded in Bologna, Italy on 1 December 1914 and officially started operating two weeks later. The nucleus of the company was formed by Alfieri Maserati and his two brothers, Ettore and Ernesto. They were all interested in mechanics and had a great love for speed.

Though absorbed in all technical and commercial matters of their new enterprise, the brothers all made time to pursue their passion for motor racing. A fourth brother, Bindo, joined the company when Alfieri died in 1932 and a fifth brother, Mario, is credited with designing the famed Maserati logo, having drawn inspiration from the Neptune fountain in downtown Bologna.

The first Maserati car was produced in 1926 – the Tipo 26 race car, which debuted with a victory in the 1926 Targa Florio. Now they offer the all new Quattroporte and the Ghibli, inspired by a tradition of automobiles which have redefined Italian sports cars in terms of style and performance, comfort and elegance that are taking the world by storm.

Maserati is planning a series of activities to celebrate its first 100 years and events will be taking place in all major markets throughout the world.
