Oval circuit racing kicks off in style this weekend

The 2014 Gauteng oval circuit racing season will start on a high note this Saturday, with two circuits offering fans excellent viewing pleasure.

The Mahem Raceway in Pretoria will have international spectacle.

Their Chipile Motors International event will see six top British saloon car racers taking on 12 of South Africa’s quickest tin-top racers in a series of events.

The visitors will form a team, while the South African contenders will take part as two teams: the Chipile Renegades and the Midas Outlaws.

Also in action will be Rotary powered Midgets, the 360 Midas V8 Sprint Cars, the 410 ThunderSprint Cars, Ninja Midget karts and open class saloons.

Food and drink will be on sale or you may take your own; parking is free and safe and there will be a flea market. The stadium gates will open at noon, with practice sessions in the afternoon.

Admission is R50 per adult and R20 for kids between the ages of six and 12 years.

There will also be a stunt, with specific details not known at this stage.
