Mitchell paid Nelspruit a visit
Former All Black and Golden Lions coach, John Mitchell together with Powerade Schools Programme visited Penryn College on Tuesday, July 30 and Hoërskool Nelspruit on Wednesday, July 31.

The rugga-boys had the opportunity to be coached by one of the all-time greats.
They where put through a number of skill development drills, focusing on pressure-pass situations and the breakdown area. Typical aspects the New Zealanders prospers in. After being set through the pases, the drills were put into perspective by a game situation play. The boys participated with enthusiasm and eagerness and off course, they’ve gained a lot from this experience.
This programme is a five-month-campaign tackling all the aspects of rugby training and a competition to build companionship among the school players.
The program aims to help sportsmen power through the challenges that they face at every level in their sport by motivating, inspiring as well as providing useful information on training regimes, and how Powerade intrinsically fits into all of these elements.
The team have a development program to help both coaches and players shine in the sport of rugby. “I am truly honoured to train in the Lowveld. I am passionate about coaching coaches and players,” said Mitchell.
His rugby career started with the Fraser-Tech club in Hamilton. He coached in England, including a time as England’s assistant coach. He was appointed coach of the Chiefs’ Super12-side for 2001 and was appointed as All Black coach through to the 2003 World Cup.
