Fitness college adopts Futsal at its campuses

The eta sports and fitness College has adopted Futsal at its seven campuses throughout the country and it provides sport management courses ,fitness course and coaching science courses for students with the aim of grooming soccer talent.
Dr Steve Harris the director of the college says applying the Futsal to enables coaching science students to learn how to use accelerated learning for sport skills development, to enable fitness students to apply their conditioning training to a Futsal team and to enable management students to apply their tournament and team management skills to a Futsal team.
“Futsal is played on a basketball sized spaces with five players and a ball that has 30% less bounce; this provides players with up to six times more opportunities to learn skills as in a conventional game. The fundamentals are the same the significant differences between Futsal and outdoor soccer make it the ideal setting for maximum learning for players, coaches, managers and fitness trainers,” he explained .
He said the college provides dynamic courses in sport and fitness that lead to qualifications that are registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). “Our qualifications are benchmarked against the best international standards in sport and fitness. This means that our graduates find employment easily; in South Africa and all over the world,” he said.
Harris added that all students in their campus in the country participate in futsal tournaments. “The sport management students manage the tournaments and teams, the coaching science students coach the teams and the fitness students condition the players,” he said .
He added that the eta College uses world class high performance testing skills to test the players and based on those tests prescribe high performance training.
“They also use world class game analysis video and analysis equipment to analyse games as well as players and their physiological development needs,” said Harris.
