As residents of flood-ravaged KwaZulu-Natal pick up the pieces of their lives, the body count is piling up.
More bodies are being sifted from the rubble and ruins.

President Cyril Ramaphosa has authorised a request by the provincial government to declare a state of disaster following his visit to flood-hit areas on Wednesday.
