Over 24 homes and a primary school in the Swaneville and Mogale City find themselves trapped on sinking land. The floods are believed to be hazardous water leaking from a burst pipe from a sewage pumping system, mine dam water and is made worse by heavy rains.
Many residents have had to abandon their homes. In Slovoville Primary School security guards who had left their shacks for the festive season came back to only the remains floating on water.
