Kempton businessman accused of killing parents, stepdaughter, domestic worker: Case moved to high court

Anton Bouwer has also been connected with another case in 2011 of which the details were not disclosed in court.

The case against murder-accused former Pomona businessman Anton Bouwer, who is accused of killing his parents in Brendel, Kempton Park and on the same day in Benoni, his stepdaughter and domestic worker as well as attempting to kill his wife, was transferred to High Court yesterday due to the seriousness of the charges against him.

He will face five counts of murder and one count of attempted murder when he appears in the Palm Ridge High Court on February 28.

During court proceedings in December last year, the court heard that the state was able to make a positive link between Bouwer and another case from 2011.

The case details from 2011 were not released in court and will form part of future proceedings.

Bouwer is accused of killing his parents, Bettie (73) and Robert (78) Bouwer, on January 22, 2024 at their house in Bredell.

He is also accused of killing his stepdaughter, Natasha Bouwer (22), and domestic worker, Elizabeth Mahlangu (56), at a house in Fairleads, Benoni, on the same day.

Bouwer will additionally face one charge of attempted murder for the shooting of his wife, Adelle.

During an appearance in court on March 5 last year, Bouwer abandoned his bail application.

He was remanded in custody until his next appearance in court.
