Police are investigating two separate cases in Gauteng following the discovery of a woman’s body in a Kempton Park stream and a man’s body in an open veld in Alrode, Alberton, yesterday (September 10).

Members of the Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services were called to the Kempton Park scene near Voortrekker Road, at the R21 highway crossing, at about 10:20. According to Warrant Officer Frans Spang, media liaison officer for Police Emergency Services, officers were directed to a body in the water when they arrived, reports Kempton Express.

The police dive team, comprising Warrant Officer Martin Bann and Warrant Officer Coenie van Rooyen, recovered the body. Police said the woman, believed to be about 30 years old, was found naked with no visible injuries.

An inquest docket has been opened and investigations are continuing.

Man found dead in Alrode

In a separate incident on the same day, the body of an unknown man was found in an open veld in Alrode, Alberton at 10:45, reports Alberton Record.

A security officer patrolling the area discovered the body, which had visible blood on the upper torso, and alerted the authorities. Preliminary investigations indicate the man was shot.Brackendowns police are investigating a case of murder. The motive for the killing and the identity of the suspect or suspects remain unknown.

Police have appealed to anyone with information about either case that could lead to an arrest to contact them or call 08600 10111 anonymously.
