Watch: Jub Jub in Germiston court over alleged public firearm discharge
The case against a well-known TV personality was postponed as his legal team challenges the strength of the prosecution’s evidence.
TV personality Molemo Maarohanye, known as Jub Jub, appeared briefly in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court earlier today (June 22) on charges linked to the alleged discharge of a firearm in a public place.
According to Germiston City News, Maarohanye initially faced three charges, including the unlawful discharge of a firearm in a public area, kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice.

Incident
Soweto Urban previously reported Maarohanye was arrested following an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on June 14.
It is reported that at about 07:30, the driver had transported a woman to a residence in Edenvale when he was confronted by Maarohanye, who accused him of having a romantic relationship with his girlfriend.
According to reports, Maarohanye forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving. During the incident, a firearm was discharged in the driver’s direction, allegedly by Maarohanye.
The driver managed to escape unharmed and immediately drove to a nearby police station to report the matter.
The kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice charges have since been dropped, while the alleged unlawful discharge of a firearm charge remains.
Defence argument
His legal representative, Advocate Motsemme, told media outside court today (June 22) that the defence believes the state’s case is weak, adding that the charges have shifted since the matter was first reported.
He further claimed that police acted prematurely in arresting Maarohanye before all facts had been properly established.
“We are hoping that by the end of this matter all charges will be dropped and that if my client goes to trial, he will be acquitted,” Motsemme said.
Maarohanye was previously realesed on R5 000 bail and the case will return to the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on August 24.
